Not your Average Savage.....

Got this build done a few days ago, and am pretty happy with it despite being a crappy old '06 chambering.

For a while, it bemy "Everything Bigger Than a Deer Rifle".

Details:

1:10 22" Douglas, Rem 700, Cerekoted with Sniper Gray and treated with UBC on all the internals....

Leupy 3X9 with ele turret, BC caps, mounted in Talley LW's...

Kevlar mountain, routed out for BDL configuration, bedded, floated, and gray tinted Marine Tex "sponge" texture(which was a PITA and had to do itover again and quicker,to get it all to match) plus two coats of matte clear.

Load is a 168 TSX over RL19 in Lapua hulls...2995 fps.

Shoots to 1/2 MOA verifiedout to 500 in it's wood stock, off pods and a back pack, all year long, BTW.

All up it now weighs "light".

It ain't your off the shelfAverage Savage................

Sorry no fancy suburian deck with an interstate in the backgroundto pose it on, so the creekup back will hafta do.......

Great looking rifle! Seems to be one problem though; the bolt is on the wrong side!:D

RE: Not your Average Savage.....

Been a southpaw all my life and have had my share of right hand rifles own me. Learned a long time ago to shoot both hands but much prefer to just go with the genetic preference, if allowed the time and movement. Sourcing gear being the only drawback, but canmake do with what I can build...

Sometimes I get lucky with wrongly engineered right handed stuff, like my worm gear Craftsman circular saw, and the load gate being on the "right" side of my Ruger BH .45 LC...easy for a quick flick of the left thumb.

I do crave a left handed bolt driven inline muzzleloader tho'.....and much wish my customed 77/50 wasn't right handed.

Thanks for the compliment tho', this has been a worthwhile project.

Looks great. So what's wrong with a crappy '06? Congrats.

I've never found a thing wrong with an '06 chambering, but it's not a popular andsexy short mag either......
