.243, 6mm rem, 25-06, .260, 6.5x55, 270, 280, 7mm-08. Never shot a lope, but any flat shooter from 85-140gr should work good. Practice and quality optics are probably more important than the caliber or cartridge

Many calibers cover this from 270 to the 30 calibers.

Antelope are really not difficult at all to bring down. Any decent hit from the .243 up thru just about anything else will do nicely. Some states will even let you use .22 cals. I like a .260 Rem.

I think these are Classic speed goat chamberings: 6mm Rem, 257 Roberts, 25-06, 270 Win.

Give me a 130/140gr billistic tip in an accurate 270 win load for goats!

One that your can consitantly shoot and put a bullet in the vitals. I have taken them with a 243win and a 270wsm.

243 on deer and 6mm on lopes.. Just because I like the little extra ballistics of the 6 for those longer shots out west.. :D

If I were headed out west I would leave all guns at home except for my 25-06 for those ranges......However the 243 and 6mm are good choices, I have practiced and set up my 25-06 for these long shots and is excellent for med sized game....

I'm picking up a .243 mainly for antelope.....probably a backup on a mule deer hunt, though may become my mule deer rifle.

I've used a .270 on antelope and the results were overkill, bullet's always blew right through them.

I've heard the .25-06 billed as the perfect antelope rifle, though I'm thinking a .243 may be perfect.

I think for that combo though, 25-06 or .270 would be about as ideal as they come, not overkill for either, nor undergunned either.

But anything from .243 to .30-06 would do both fine.

My 7mm Rem Mag absolutely made a mess out of the last antelope I shot. 140gr Nosler AccuBond loaded to max velocity did a number on the goat. Thought there mighta been 2 pieces when I walked up to it.....

I'll be shooting my 243 or my 25WSSM this fall for goats.

A 7-08 would be a good choice.
