Just wondering if what you meant to ask was what is the oldest self contained cartridge that is still around today and made the jump to smokeless powder? take care.

There are severalcenterfire rounds still in production that are much older! The .44/40, .45 Colt and .45/70 date from 1873, and specialy ammo makers are still making .577 Snider (1866), .577/.450 Martini-Henry, and in rimfire, .22 BB Cap, 22 CB Cap, and .22 Short are still being made. Some of these rimfires date from the early 1850's at least.

8X50Rmm Lebel, 1886
8X57mm Mauser, 1888

Wild to think that the .375H&H is almost 100yrs old and still on top of its game.....same with the .30-06....

.30-30 still a strong one......

.45-70 is way old and still pretty active from what I know.

wonder about today's popular rounds which will be around in another 100yrs? course we may be using laser beams by then right?
