Browning BAR shooters, I need some input 300WSM vs 30-06

I'm getting a synthetic stalker in the next couple months and I can't decide if I want the shorttrac .300WSM or longtrac 30-06. I'd imagine it's not going to be as much a tack driver as a bolt gun at 350-400 yards and further. Most shots will be on whitetail at 50-250 yards but I have had to pass some 350-450 yard shots when packing my .35 Marlin. I love the .300WSM in the bolt actions I have shot, but the 06 is a tried and true round. I am really just curious as to the accuracy I'm looking at in these two rounds in the BAR platform. It will also be used some on boar, elk, and perhaps black bear. Anything real heavy gets the call of my Marlin 1895G.

I'd get the .300 wsm, I have a .270win in a BAR it shoots far sub MOA, so you may be surprised....what it shoots?

its said that a shorter stack/column will produce a more accurate rifle round.....ie the .300 wsm over the .30-06. Though not sure this has been proven/backed up with the WSM line or not, others might know.

IMO the only thing the 300 WSM is going to dobetter than the 06(especially at the ranges you described)is suck more money from your wallet. If you plan to handload then this is probably a moot point though. If it were me though I would forget about the BAR and go with a good bolt rifle chambered in whatever you like.

If I were going to buy a semi-auto it would be the BAR lightweight stalker..not the long or shortrac POSbut the real BAR.

I have had to pass some 350-450 yard shots when packing my .35 Marlin.

Hopefully that was a typo

What is the difference between the lightweight stalker and the shorttrac stalker minus having iron sights? I'm leaning more towards WSM right now and it's lookin like the shortrac stalker as my main gun at the moment. And with the .35 Marlin remark I was saying I have had to pass up some nice deer hunting over foodplots and such due to lack of range. I fully trust my .35 to the 200yard mark with a good solid rest but anything past that and it can dance around all it wants too with no consequences. I want to have a gun that I can, with good rest confidently place a round where I want at 350-400 yards.
