Default Chicago Violence, blame handguns not assault rifles...

Just heard onthe news a police chief or someone along those lines state that assault rifles don't cause most of themurders here in chicago, but rather pistols......

To paraphrase he said something along the lines of the criminals weapon of choice is not an assault rifle, but rather a handgun.

Is it just me or is that not much of a surprise?

What would be nice is if they started saying that the criminals weapon of choice is the brain between their ears when they make a choice to murder someone.

They also stated that most of these criminals guns come from burglaries, not legal methods of purchase.

If I've said this once, I've said it a thousand times!
The Anti's want ALL of our guns!
It never ceases to amaze me how many "casual gun owner/hunters" buy into this crap!
" No one really needs this gun or that gun!" " All I need is a single-shot or shotgun or a bolt-action"
BULL HOCKEY!
HORSE FEATHERS!
They are just playing us one against the other!
THE ANTI'S WANT EVERY GUN TO BE OUTLAWED!
Gun owners/hunters, even Bow Hunters, we need to stick together!
Most of the "Anti gun" crowd are "Anti Hunting," PERIOD!
Please, don't be naive enough to believe that if they get your .50 cal. or my "Evil Black Gun" or handguns, that they won't come after Gramp's 'ol singleshot shotgun too!
And if guns are ever outlawed, ALL hunting will soon follow!

Utah now considers a bow a dangerous weapon or something like that and wont allow felons to bowhunt.....is anyone really gonna use a bow to commit a crime?

I saw a guy try to rob a gas station on one of those tv shows with a blowtorch, the clerk took out his baseball bat and ran the guy off.

I am a little shocked that comment came out of chicago, myself. as for assault rifles, my personal take, anything that can be selected to full auto, holding over 10 rounds but that is just me.

hell I hunt with an sks once or twice a year. I talk to cops at work about shooting all the time. (while they get coffee)

I read an article recently that China wants it's citizens to register all knives over a certain mm. I don't recall how many mm was the minmimum but it was small like pocket knife size.

I'm paraphrasing bigbulls and I've heard someone else on the boards say this..."The weapon is your brain, a gun is merely a tool!" Just by taking our guns wont solve anything. remember the ole saying " criminals prefer unarmed victims"

I agree 100%. I work with and know a number of folks that have a full gun cabinet, but yet they tell me "they don't want your guns, just machineguns" or "assualt weapons" or "high capacity handguns", etc. etc. They don't seem to understand the true anti-gun agenda. There's no doubt which way their vote will go the next presidential election.
