RE: KAHR pistols
ORIGINAL: SJAdventures Wish my stepson was here to tell you exactlyabout his. What I know about his is that it is a 40 cal polymar and he is waiting fora new gun to be shipped back to him now and he is going to sell it unfired when he gets it back. His Kahr 40 cal started having part of the slide guides (not sure if that is correct terminolgy) chipping off and the dealer he bought it from said they were glad he brought it back when he did that it was in a very dangerous state and at any time could have had the slide blow off of it when shot. They sent it back to Kahr and he is waiting to hear back from them now. I have read and heard of some problems withKahr pistols, especially the early models. As I statedin a previous postmany problemscan be contributed to operator error but some were probably not the fault of the shooter. Regardless, I have heard enough thatit would takesome timefor me to have faith in a Kahras a self defense pistol. I have zero problems and have completetrust in Beretta, Sig,and Glock. In fact, I carry or have carried thesethree brandsas a duty weapon or backup weapon for the last 12 years. I know there are other brands which have a reputations just as reliable that I did not mention, but I have significant time with thesethreeto have completetrustin them. I am personally a big fan of Glock as a CCWbut I am not here to hijack this thread. I will say this though, the beauty of Glock lies in its simplicity. |
RE: KAHR pistols
An aquaintance bought a new Kimber 45 that was twice the price of the Kahr..It had a bad slide as well and had to be returned and gunsmithed and he got the same gun back. I had a beretta o/u silver pigeon NIB that had burrs on the cocking rod(s) and had to go back as well. Both cost significantly more then a Kahr pistol would cost.

RE: KAHR pistols
I am at school and we have blocks on everything so I am unable to get any price right now. What are the prices of the 9mm and the .45 Kahr? Thanks

RE: KAHR pistols
Kahr's are a great CCW gun. If you buy a 40-say with lighter bullets-they don't recoil as bad as heavy bullets. Federal makes a load for short barrel guns and I would reccommend that load. the P9 is a very good gun as well.
