turkey choke and buck shot?
Dumb question cuz im new to turkey hunting. can you shoot buckshot through a turkey choke without damage or is it not a good idea? thinking ahead for fall season.

RE: turkey choke and buck shot?
I'm sure some do but I wouldn't. Especially if the choke has a lot of constriction to it.

RE: turkey choke and buck shot?
Your patterns are probably going to be rather poor due to overchoking and pellet deformation. Most guns shoot buckshot best with a Mod or IM constriction.
You "probably" won't hurt the gun, but if you shoot much buckshot through it, you will wear down the choke tube, and if you don't loosen the choke up routeinly, the choke will probably freeze in the barrel. Trust me... it ain't worth it. Get yourself a good extended IM or heck even a buckkicker and see what she'll give you. |

It will pound the crap out of the threads if you fire a lot of shots thru it.

Buckshot does not take to shaping like a tall column of small birdie shot. But you don't have to take my word for it. Put up some butcher paper and see how she prints.
I advise cylinder bore for buck. |
