RE: Good gun in 220 Swift

I have a 220 Swift in a Ruger 77 mkII Target and I really like it. Nice target trigger andlaminate stock. It doesn't look like Ruger is chambering it anymore in the new rifles, though. I don't know who (if anyone) still chambersSwifts in their new rifles. You can still find them around in quality used guns, though. Great cartridge choice, IMO.
Don't be discouraged by the lack of new offerings and don't 'settle' for a 22-250 or a 204. :)

Remington is chambering the 220 Swift. Check the link for more info...

remington and browning both chamber 1 rifle in it I believe, I prefer the remington of the two, ie the look, never been a fan of laminates.....quite certain its the remington VS SF II, but you can look under browse by caliber....its there.

who else.....? obviosly some customs.....

Good job on the swift choice! I assume you reload....I'm not really a fan of using a .223 on larger game...but I think of the big 3 .223 choicies, the .220swift offerst he best option for loading heavy andusing on some lighter big game, maybe antelope, maybe deer, with 75gr bullets.....Know a guy in MT who routinely uses his .220 on antelope, and I thought I was going light with my .243! Think his wife last year shot an antelope at 300yds and it dropped with the .220

PS- Cooper Firearms chamber the .220, I'll see who else I can find....

Stand corrected, I think only Rem is loading the .220 from what I see. Not Browning, and couldn't find a ruger. I do like that Rem. myself, now im trying to figure out if I need one.....I'm thinking maybe a factory .22-250 then a custom .220swift

Ruger makes the No.1V in 220 Swift
I would buy another M77VT in 220 Swift in a heartbeat. I had one and sold it to a friend at a weak moment

Bob, you might try the nearest Cabela's as I have seen the target grey 77 mk II in 220 swift's there on clearance. They can get them from other stores if out of stock.

With that said, yes the swift has a slight advantage in ballistic's but in the real world it's a moot point. As you have already found out, that chambering is hard to find where as the 22-250 can be had in many different offerings. I speak this from owning a couple of swifts and 22-250's and other .22 cf's.
