Default S&W Model 329PD

Looks like it would make a nice gun to carry around in the truck and/or farm equipment. Any chance a person could also carry one concealed?

Thoughts?

Looks like a nice revolver. Light weight for a .44 Mag. I suspect it wouldn't be terribly fun to shoot with magnum loads. Also, even though it's relatively light, it might still be a bit bulky for concealed carry. Only way to really find out is to go handle one...

I have one and it is absolutely my favorite handgun. It is easy to carry, and fairly easy to conceal. About like a full size 1911, maybe slightly larger.

I load a 240 grain cast bullet at 850 fps. This load is not hard to handle, and it is a very accurate load. I take mine everywhere I go. There is no doubt the revolver is a hand full with full power 44 magnum loads. But for that matter any full power 44 magnum load is a hand full.

If I had to sell all my firearms, mine would be one of the last ones to go. Tom.

I would love to have one. Michael Bane calls it "the best .44 special made".Have heard on the Smith and Wesson forums that hot loads have caused the internal lock to fail on a few guns???? But I think like HEAD0001 said, a big ole chunk of lead moving around 850fps would be a sweet load in this gun.

Thanks for the review and the pics.

I'm thinking about getting one. I don't see myself using full-power magnum loads, more like .44 special or downloaded .44 magnum reloads. I would like something that I could conceal carry, yet also shoot reasonably well at reasonable distances.

I have shot two does with mine. The distance was about 40 yards. I can keep the 240's in a 3 inch group at 50 yards. So there is plenty of accuracy, and energy to hunt with.

I put the 44 in a picture with my Titanium 38+P, just to give some size comparison. Tom.

I appreciate te size comparison. Since I haven't seen one in any of the local gun stores, I haven't been able to actually handle one, but everything I've seen and read makes it seem very do-able, especially when compared to your 38+P.

All I can say is this. I had not seen one until I handled the one in the picture(at a local gunshop). The instant I handled the pistol I realized I had to have one. I went straight to the bank, got the cash, and went straight back to the store. My advice is simple. Do not handle one unless you are prepared to buy it. Tom.

Once again I agree with HEAD0001, I handled one at Gander Mountain a few times and they are sweet. To me there is not a better looking gun than a 4" N frame Smith, there is just something about them.

OK, I didn't buy a 329PD.[]

I bought a 325PD instead. Found a nice used one at a local gun store at a pretty good price.
