Cheap .223 rounds??

I just got a new Rick River Arms AR-15 and I am wondering if anyone knows of a cheap place to order .223 rounds so I can go out and have a little fun without it costing an arm and a leg.

I was just talking to a guy the other day who has an AR and he said that it is impossible to find .223 at a decent price right now. He said the war was the big reason, but ammo in general has gone up a lot lately due to metal prices being way up. Good luck finding some though

Well, Wolf ammo is always a bargain when bought in bulk. Although, I couldn't tell you the quality of the ammo.

Go on line checking for 5.56mm ball.It was a couple years ago I bought two cases of 5.56 which figured out to be about 3.00 a box. It was Lake City Ball.If I remember right I got it from www.midsouthshooterssupply.com or www.natchezss.com .Yes it's safe to shoot 5.56mm in a 223.
See other topic posted concerning 5.56 in a 223.

I have also heard 223 is very hard to find nowdays. The same might be for the 5.56mm.It's doesn't hurt to enquire about it.

Yeah Right! Good luck.

Don't buy wolf ammo. A lot of ranges don't allow you to shoot wolf. Not to mention it's junk.

.223/556 ammo is scarce and the stuff that's worth shooting isn't cheap anymore, probably won't be until things settle down in the middle east a bit.

FWIW, I bought an AR-15 a few years ago because it was much cheaper to shoot than my M1 for highpower competition. I just recently bought a .22 target rifle to practice with because .223 is getting too expensive to shot regularly. I've heard of a lot of folks spending $500 or so on .22LR uppers for plinking and marksmanship practice because right now it would pay for itself in just a few thousand rounds.

Cabelas has some reloaded Rem ammo on sale, no ammo is "cheap" any more though.
