I am brand new to this site. Years ago I purchased a Kimber of America M96 SWEDEN sporterized. This rifle is chambered in .308. I have been reading up on it a little and I have found that some people believe that this rifle may be dangerous because it was not built to be chambered in .308 and therefore cannot stand the pressure. I have hunted with it for years and I have never had a problem with it. However I have only fired it a couple of dozen times. I am not nearly as learned as some of you and I value your opinions. What do you think? Thank you, Chris

I believe that if you stick to factory ammunition or reasonable handloads, and do not try to hotrod any loads you may make up for it, you should have no troubles at all. I would not be hesitant to use it atall. |

If I remember right it was the Model 94 Swede that had the weak action . When they first started importing the model 94 Swedish carbine in 6.5X55 into the USA there was a warning came out about not handloading them beyond factory specs because of the action . It made a lot of people leery of the round and hurt sales of it here in the states. The 96 action is a very good action , Ive owned a few of them myself .

I don't think Kimber would have stamped it if they were not sure. They are a quality company with too much to loose. Stick to factory ammo if you have any concerns.
