RE: North American Hunting Club ?
I was a memberwhen the "club" first started.
The magazine was written by the members and contained great stories even though some were poorly written. Then, they took commerical advertising for the magazine and printed onlyslick stories from professional writers (who also write the same stuff for the others rags as well). Their stories were camo'ed advertising for the same products that were for sale in the same edition. They started pushing, and I mean really pushing, life memberships and a lot of people fell for it. They promised shooting clubs and club lands for hunts. I think this probably is now onlyavailable for the few guys in the head office. They sent out unordered books and videos then billed the members for them. I got a book on Whitetail deer hunting. A poorly printed form letter had my name typed in. It said, "they knew I wanted to know how totake more Whitetails in "Alaska" so they had sent me this book." I ignored them so they sent a bill. Then another and another. Each one got a little more nasty. Finally I sat down and wrote them a letter. I pointed out that we do not have Whitetail Deer in Alaska! I also enclosed a copy of the US Postal regulations that state, "If an unsolicited item is sent to you in the mail it becomesyour property, and you owe nothing." My words. I promptly received a short reply that I was to keep the book as a free gift and they would not send me anymore. They have patterned themselves after the NRA in that they have devised a two-pronged scam to get your money. Along with their "normal" hunting club they also claim to support our right to keep and bear arms and seperately raise money for that effort. They wanted a mascot for that "scam"so held a contest to chose the symbol. It seemed to me the membership supported the wild turkey as a fitting symbol, since this is a hunting club. However greater minds prevailed and the leaders chose the American Bald Eagle. How unique! You have to read their mail very carefully or you may mistake them for the NRA. Thankfully I never bought a life membership so I quit. Run Forest, Run! |
