What size do you want? what would you use it for? may consider a scope with multiple aiming points..../crosshairs.

I think they only load 150 and 180 factory, but I know some guys love the 165gr if you handload....I'd probably stick to the 180 or 165 if I handloaded.....when I think any 300 magnum I think 180gr, nothing less, if flatter shooting was your goal I'd probably have a different round, the 180's are plenty flat and have some other good qualities going for them as well.

I have loaded for 2 Iikka T3 in a 300wsm, the owners wanted to use 165gr bullets. Found hunting accuracy with all 3 bullets they chose to develop with first; Nosler Parts (shot good), Nosler Accubonds ( ok in one and superb in the other) and Barnes TSX(shot very good). In both the powder settled on was H4831SC, WLRM primers and win brass. The one fella used the Ab and has taken an elk & deer with it. The other went with a TSX but has yet to dump one into a biggame animal. Also loadfor a browning abolt in a 300wsm using a 180gr AB under RL22, GM215M fed primers and Win brass. He has taken 2 elk, 1 cow moose and several deer with this load. Routinely shoots MOA or better, excellent all around prairie load IMO shoots, high BC and seems to work on near everything we have to hunt here in Saskatchewan. However what shoots in your rifle maybe different so pick a bullet (s) suited to the purpose and shoot them.

As far as scope forthese 3 rifles:1- 3x9x40 elite 3200, 1 - VXIII 3.5x10x40 & 1 Conquest 3x9x40. All duplex reticles(standard cross hairs). Of thesemypick- Zeiss! Optically its great, features/function is good, rock solid (from my experience) and the 4" of constant ER with the 3x9x40for the lite and 300wsm combo would be good:D. Like a bullet you must also try optics on your own to know which one is best for the dollars you have budgeted.

How much do you want to spend on optics? I would start with the Leupold VXIII. Nikon has a great reputation, but I do not have any personal experience with them. If you got a thick wallet, I would look at the Zeiss Conquest or Swarovski AV.

Before getting too caught up in the best premium bullet, I would by a couple boxes (100 rounds) of 180 gr. Win SP (silver box) or the Rem Core-Lok (which ever is cheapest). Get your shoulderblack and blue a few times and get used to your rifle. You have pleanty of time before the fall hunt to getyour rifle broke in and a bullet dialed in. My Sako300WSM likesthe 180 Federal Premium TSX.Its the one bullet that does it all for the game I am chasing(elk/mule deer)

BTW: which model of rifle haveyou decided on week???:D

I am assuming that your right-handed. I bought a left-handed Tikka 300wsm and put a Nikon on it and had to go with high scope rings because the fatter case kept hitting the focus adjustment on the scope. On the 270winwith a Nikon scope it ejects just fine.

I am getting the same rifle. The scope I am going to put on it is the Leuopold VX-7 in 2.5-10x45 with a B&C reticle. Of course this is an expensive scope. I would recommend at least a VX-III if you can. I have had one (VX-III)on my 340 Weatherby for 16 years and have never had to readjust it, or have it worked on. I have even fell on it which put a small dent i the scope and it was still dead on.
