April 12, 2008 Clinton touts her experience withguns Posted: 07:00 PM ET Sen. Evan Bayh looks on as Sen. Clinton greets supporters in Valparaiso, Indiana. VALPARAISO, Indiana (CNN) — Hillary Clinton appealed to Second Amendment supporters on Saturday by hinting that she has some experience of her own pulling triggers.
“I disagree with Sen. Obama’s assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about trade and immigration simply out of frustration,” she began, referring to the Obama comments on small-town Americans that set off a political tumult on Friday.
She then introduced a fond memory from her youth.
“You know, my dad took me out behind the cottage that my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl,” she said.
“You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter.”
Minutes later, in a slightly awkward moment, Clinton faced a question from a woman in the audience whose son had been paralyzed by a gunshot. The woman asked Clinton what she would do about gun control as president.
Clinton touted her husband's record on gun control during his administration, and said "there is not a contradiction between protecting Second Amendment rights" and the effort to reduce crime.
Noting that many hunters and gun collectors want to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, Clinton referred to her positive childhood experiences with firearms.
"As I told you, my dad taught me how to shoot behind our cottage,” she said. “I have gone hunting. I am not a hunter. But I have gone hunting."
Clinton said she has hunted ducks.

I'd love to ask Hillary what kind of shotgun she used. I'm sure the answer would be pure comedy.
As for Obama, whether in the Senate or in the Illlinois legislature, he has NEVER voted against and gun control bill, ever.

You don't have to tell me.
I grew up in the Chicago area (Naperville) and decided to move to Bloomington out of disgust of Chicago politics.
I'm thinking I might have to move to Wyoming to be able to get the BAR I've always wanted...

Sweet, I grew up in Sugar Grove and know Naperville well. We were lucky and had places to shoot guns when I grew up, that is a thing of the past out there.

Heh. I went to Waubonsie Valley High School. Sugar Grove isn't like it used to be....
Thankfully, in Bloomington, I can still go shooting. I can count on one hand the number of neighbors on my street that DON'T own guns. I went to the range today, and the first words from the owner were: "Lane two is open, Chris." He knew because it was raining I was there for the indoor range and not trap. My state senator, state representive, and congressman all run on records of protecting and upholding the Second Amendment.
Now if I could only legally own some Class III stuff...

Speculation over the election is driving firearm prices up already, if the democrats win, it will only get worse, so no gun buying for me. Ammo, yes. I'm also going to start doing my own reloading.

I dont really keep up with the gun banning stuff, but would they try to band like normal winchester and remington ammo too, or just like reloading stuff?
