12 bucks for a box of 550 rounds at wal-mart. 10/22 is simply a model that ruger makes, it is chambered in .22lr.

Probably the too most popular rifles would be the Marlin model 60 and Ruger 10/22. The ruger is magazine fed and has tons of aftermarket accessories. The Marlin 60 doesn't really have that many aftermarket stuff but is very reliable and less expensive. Both are semi-auto.

whats .22 mag ammo cost? .22lr? .17hmr? or whatever the hot new .17 is?

.22 are fun to plink, I hav eone sure, I think everyone does, just syaing aside from plinking, i never use it. might be good to get a kid started in shooting etc....and sure you can buy 500 rounds for 12 bucks or whatever, just saying, me, now, i have little use for a .22lr, and feel like a .22mag might actually be able to be used for hunting, aside from squirrels......

but again if it were me, now, I'd bypass the .22lr, and buy a .22-250, or hell a .223rem if you want something small, cheap ammo. there ya go!

Get a .223 rem, cheap ammo, and alot more options for plinking and hunting!
