can I send ammo through mail???1903 Winch .22

HAPPY EASTER ALL ,
Hoping someone can help. My dad and grandfater left me a 1903 Winchester 22 cal auto. I have many great memories with them and this rifle that Id like to take my son out with it and let him in on family tradition . So , how do I get my ammo to Hawaii . Ive found the ammo ( which is really hard to find) but no one sends by air. What can I do ?? Send it to someone on the mainland and bring it on luggage next time I fly back from mainland.???? Try shipping it by boat??? Any idea's would really be appreciated;)

I know you can get ammo through the mail ,but the best thing would be to check with the postal service . UPS is another way .

Halcon has provided you with erroneous information! Small arms ammunition CANNOT be mailed via USPS!!

U.S. Postal Service (USPS): Shipping of Ammunition is Prohibited

Ammunition (Cartridges, small arms) is a nonmailable hazardous material. "Under no circumstances may any nonmailable hazardous material, restricted matter, or perishable matter be deposited for mailing."

Publication 52 - Hazardous, Restricted and Perishable Mail
Cartridges, small arms - Appendix A - Hazardous Materials

The only legal methods for shipping loaded ammo in the U.S.A. are via common carriers that will accept it, such as UPS or FEDEX. In additon, it is possible that an airline might carry it from one airport to another if you shipped it at the air freight office at one location and picked it up at the other end.

I sent a hundred rounds of 7X57mm Mauser ammo from New York to Colorado to my son one time using UPS. Had no problems at all.
