can 2 3/4 " slugg fit in 3" chamber
Hi All ,
So Id like to try a little Stevens model 94 shotgun out that my dad left me and on the rifle it says it has a 410 bore and 3 inch chamber. So I let a friend know I needed ammo and he brought me 2 3/4" slugs and shot. Do I need three inch or will the 2 3/4 work . I load one shot at a time if that makes a difference , its an old , old gun. Thanks for any input guys and gals.

Actually, the 20 is a gauge and the .410 is a caliber. You cannot shoot 20 ga in a 410 nor a 410 in a 20 ga if only because of the obvious size difference.
In your 410 single shot, as long as it has 3" marked on the barrel, you can shoot 2 1/2", 2 3/4" or 3" 410 shells in it without any fear of damage.

yeah 2.75s will work just fine, however if you had a 12g, and tried fitting 3.5s in a barrel that said 3in, youd end up takin it to the gunsmith to get em out.
with shotguns they awlays say how big ofa shell you can put in em, if it says 3in, you can put 3in, and 2 3/4in in it.
another thing ti remember is always make sure you have the right guage

"Can 2 3/4 " slugg fit in 3" chamber??" Why coitinley!! But not vice versa!!
However, I'd sure like to see you get a 20-ga. shell in a .410 chamber!! Or even get a 28-ga. shellin a .410 chamber!
BTW, you are talking about SHOTGUNS here, NOT RIFLES!!

It its simplest terms the "gauge" is the diameter of the inside of the barrel. You can not interchange shells. IE... you can't shoot a 410 in a 20, can't shoot a 20 in a 12. can't shoot a 28 in a 16, etc... etc...
(for all that will correct me I know that the .410 is not a gauge but I am keeping it simple here)
As far as shell length goes you can always shoot shells that are shorter than what it marked on the barrel but not longer than what is marked on the barrel.
