RE: gun question???

Speak to a qualified gunsmith in your area. Your rifle can be rebarelled to several differnet calibers without any change to the bolt or magazine.

RE: gun question???

yes, it' s true that your M-70 .30-06 can be rebarreled to many different cartridges.....but there' s other issues here.....is it a Pre-64? Does it shoot good as is?

Pre 64 winchester model 70 command a premium price " as-is" and ofter the cost of rebarreling is greater than trading guns completely.

Find someone that knows Model 70s and get some private coaching on that question......your question is way too complex to answer here.

RE: gun question???

It' s true that pre-64 M 70' s can often command high prices, but not if they are in poor condition. Your rifle can be rebarelled to ANY cartridge with a ' 06 size case head, but it can also be rebored to any cartridge based on the .30/' 06 case that has a bore diameter of .338" or larger, just by reboring the barrel, rerifling it, and having the chamber altered for the larger case. Rebored barrels are very often more accurate after reboring than they were when new in their origninal caliber.
