What class/type of targets are we shooting? High power match? Benchrest? Shilloutte? Blackpowder?

Id have to ask what type of match youd be shooting. but first off id go with a custom made rifle. Model 700 action, sako extractor, possibly a bell & carson bench stock, and a good barrel maybe carbon coated.

Briman..........The FN SPR is a pretty nice rifle, here is my .308 win that I just painted the Mc Millan a digital pattern. It is a fairly heavy rifle at just under 14 lbs. It is a solid rifle and consistantly shoots 1/2 moa out to 500 yds

DoubleA, That shor is apurty rifle! 1/2 MOA at 500 yards? For a simple thinker like me, does that mean you can shoot a 2.5 in group at 500????

Very nice, I like the paint job.

I looked at the FN Patrol rifle too- its a slimmed down SPR,but still weighs 8-9lbs. Someday I'll get one.

i enjoy bench rest shooting just getting into it and 30-06 ammo is getting kinda expensive i go every other week to a 100 yard range and shoot 50 to 70 rounds and i shoot a little with my 22 wich i really don't like i bought a rem model 597 and it doesn't hold a group for nothing at 50 yards.i reallty have been looking at a rem with a mil spec barrel at impactguns.com for $950the barrel is suposed to be the same barrel on the us sniper rifle m24 wich i have read some reviews on the gun and people are saying it shoots .5 groups at 100 yards i have a rem model 770 that shoots that all day long and was half the price.just don't want to keep on using my hunting rifles as target rifles.
