RE: Marlin 39A
I have one and it is a very accurate robust 22 rifle

RE: Marlin 39A
Yay! I want one sooo bad
. Finest lever 22 ever made. |
RE: Marlin 39A
GREAT GUN! If I were you I'd look for a used one at a gun show or in your local shopper. I prefer the older 39A's to the newer 39A Golden's. You TRULY can't beat this old 22! Good luck / Great choice. ... SHOTARYE

RE: Marlin 39A
Ya. It is a fantastic plinking and hunting rifle. Just like the Winchester. Neither are the most accurate, and neither have the best trigger. But the fun factor is off the charts with these two 22's. Tom.

RE: Marlin 39A
39A's are sweet guns. Getting hard to find one at a reasonable price anymore.
|
RE: Marlin 39A
I thought they were good (never had any experience with them)but you guys confirm it.I won't have the money for a month or 2 but im gonna get one.I just was one at Gunsamerica.com for $360 in 90% condition. The NIB 39A's are about $550 to $600,I really hope to find a used one.I just can't justify spending that much on a 22lr.

RE: Marlin 39A
I've NEVER seen 1 that couldn't group 3/4" at 50 yards from bench straight out of box(with scope of course).

RE: Marlin 39A
If you like the 39a The henry 22 lever gun is just as nice but easier to come by and a little cheaper.
|
RE: Marlin 39A
I own one with less than 100 rounds through it.
It is for sale...if you are interested. |
RE: Marlin 39A
I have one I got from my wife's uncle out in Colorado Springs. It was worked over by a outfit called "Gunsmith 300". The action is as smooth as silk. It's a 39A Golden. Not a great picture but, it's the third rifle from the bottom.

RE: Marlin 39A
As good as the henry is,it's a far cry from a model 39A. It's like comparing a chevrolet to a mercedes. I have to wonder if you've shot them side by side comparing them because I have and will take the 39 hands down.

RE: Marlin 39A
I want one BAD but cant bring my self to spend between 400 - 700 on a .22, Especially when I found a Marlin 60 for $50. Not a lever and maybe not quite as fun, but ill live with it for the amount I saved.

RE: Marlin 39A
Even though I have several .22's I still want a 39A. They are a blast to play with.

RE: Marlin 39A
Let me tell you about the Marlin 39A. When I was a youngster (around 9 or 10) my dad gave me his 39A he used as a kid. I'm not surewhen the first year Marlin made this model but it's stll going strong today. Still accurate and functions without a flaw. I'm now 61 years old and hopefully will last me another 61 years.

RE: Marlin 39A
I've got the carbine of the Marlin Golden Mounty. I've shot less than 3/4 inch at 50 yds w/o a scope. They are FINE rifles and easily the best lever .22 out there if you can find one. Mine is NOT for sale.

RE: Marlin 39A
Pavo-Please post a picture of that carbine. I would really like to see what a carbine looks like in that rifle. That would have to be a dandy squirrel rifle. How is the trigger on that rifle??? Thanks, Tom.

RE: Marlin 39A
I'll try to remember to get photo tomorrow, Tom. Trigger is very nice and crisp. I'd guess about 5 lbs. I've had the thing maybe 20 years. Up untilmy college daysI thought everything Marlin made was a joke. Then I went home with a roommate one weekend and was given a Marlin Golden Mounty to hunt rabbits with while he used a beautiful Browning auto. I fell in love with the Marlin that weekend. It outshot his Browning at every turn and functioned perfectly. Something the Browning didn't always do. After that I had a new respect for Marlin firearms and bought this carbine model as result.
