Default Scope suggestions

I have a remington 870 express shotgun. I want to put a scope on this gun but have heard it does not react to scopes real well. Does anyone have this gun with a scope or know of a good scope that will take the abuse. I was interested in a 3-9 power scope

Will you be mounting the scope directly to the receiver, or do you have a cantlievered barrel? What sort of mount are you going to be using?

Have you broken a scope? Which one?

leupold vx-ii shotgun model 2-7, I think they may make a 3-9, really I don't think you need any scope other than a 1.5-4.5 or a 2-7, just get some solid mounts and I think you'll be fine.

If you're that concerned get a vx-7 1.5-6 it'll take abuse I'm quite sure.

Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope. Great scope for $130.00. I have one mounted on my 870 rifled barrel withcantilever scope mount. I shot this 200 pounddoe right through the heart at 110 yards.

I would suggest a red dot, maybe an Aimpoint red dot. The make a 2x red dot which you can leave on all day long without fear of the battery dying. That would be ideal IMHO. A variable scope requires someone to turn it to use it. When I have been in shotgun territory, the shooting was fast and furious. It was all 75 yards or less.

For cheaper, you could get a fixed 4x scope without illumination, if most of your shooting is over 50 yards.

+1

I have this exact scope on my 870 w/ cantilever. After some technical difficulty w/ the gun, I gave shot over 30 rds through it w/o failure

I used a Simmons Pro Diamond Recticle on my shot gun for slugs and it worked flawlessly. Mine was a fixed 4X
