I'm going with my Model 70 Classic Sporter in 25-06 w./ a not very expensive Bushnell 4-12x40 scope. Love that gun (& scope).

My bull barreled Model 70 .243 comes in a close 2nd.

If i could only keep one gun..
It would be my 870 Remington 12 guage Magnum
Shoots slugs very good up to 100 yds//
Great pattern for turkey and I bet it kills squirrels and rabbits to..

Remington 700 with a 26 inch tube chambered in 6.5 stw. Top it off with a leupold 4.5x14 vxIII.

I'll kick this thread. It'd be a Remington 700. Probably a VSSF in .308. Topped with a Leupold VariX-III 3.5-10X40 LRT.

Remington 700 30-06?

Hey everyone, new here to hunting and haven't bought my rifle yet. I know I want a Remington 700 it is just the caliber I'm not sure on. I was set on 30-06 but when I question buying my rifle the shop asked why I wanted the 30-06. He said it was good but not his recommendation. The point is all these calibers and grains are confusing. I am trying to hunt most importantly deer. I would really like to go after a bear. So I really just wanted a caliber that I can do anything with. As far as terrain woods and not sure on distance, never gone hunting. What does everyone recommend?
