I like your choice will79. For sentimental reasons I would choose the Marlin 336C that I bought last year. At this point in my life, I want a challenge to get closer to the game I choose to hunt. Most of my shots always were within the range of a 30-30 anyway. And my Marlin has a nice walnut stock and shoots 1+inch 3-shot groups at 100 yds with factory ammo. The first deer I shot was in 1965 with a borrowed 35 Marlin. Nice to come full circle.

My great grandfather always said if you want to kill something grab your shotgun. Of course he was born in 1899. All the same it would have to be my Smith and Wesson model 3000 12 gauge.

If I had to pick one gun and no other for everything... small game, large game, self defense etc. I'd have to go with my 870. I've used it for all three with great results.

If I could only have 1 gun I would choose a 12 gauge shotgun in a pump either a remington or a mossberg 500 would be fine. That way I could hunt any animal walking, crawling, flying,or swimming.

My sako 308 would be the gun I would keep forever. It was bought in 1971 and my mom gave it to me in 1985 and have used it every year since. Heavy as hell and sounds like a cannon when it goes off but to me nothing compares.

Wichester 270 WSM I love that gun but hate when I have to buy ammo for it.

Remington 700 action ( custom barrel )

But as of lately a marling 45/70 with the 24 inch ss barrel would work ( can kill anything pretty much alive )
