I use remington 700 actions but custom barrels and mcmillan stocks for all my rifles.

LibertySheepdog 01-09-2013 02:25 PM

Winchester 1300 12-Gauge. Smooth pump-action goodness. Can be used for almost anything with the right load.

davidwilsen 02-22-2013 04:01 AM

I prefer Sako TRG-22 and perfect for long range hunting for it's Super Target Grade. Really great experience with this model and is available at Eurooptic.com with very reasonable rate.

craig 05-11-2013 10:39 PM

Benelli SBE

With all 3 barrels I have for it, it can do alot I like to do.

But this is a insane pol. Now how would I hunt predators & chucks? ? Well I did once shoot a fox with the SBE while deer hunting......but does not make it good for these uses.....Big game, upland birds & waterfowl, it does them all well...even home defense........but.........

Rem 870 Wingmaster. With the right ammo all things are possible. Have 3

cammogunner 09-03-2013 11:35 AM

h&r pardner singleshot 12 guage you can shoot every thing from squirells to bear with those suckers

DanMorgan 09-20-2013 01:43 PM

Gentleman,

Be very afraid of the man with one gun.

He probably knows how to use it.

hwy 49 blues 09-29-2013 12:49 AM

Reminton model 700 in .270 Win.

Grawlix 11-21-2013 03:57 PM

12 gauge shotgun. I don't know which; I have a few that would each be comparable.

Tobe_B 11-30-2013 08:20 AM

Remington 700 BDL .300 Win Mag

flags 11-30-2013 11:27 PM

CZ Model 550 American in 9.3x62 Mauser. The reasons I would choose this one is:

1) I like it and it is accurate.

2) It has enough power to take anything on earth from rabbits to elephant.

3) It is very popular world wide even though Americans don't know much about it.

4) Components are readily available and bullets can be had in both softs and solids.

5) Because it is a fairly slow round it does not do a lot of meat damage.

All of the above can also be said of the 375 H&H Mag and I've got 2 of those but I'll still take the 9.3x62.

Remington 700 BDL .30-06

Oldtimr 10-09-2014 12:42 PM

Hey Mike, did you get tired of the tyrant on the other site we were on? I find I don't miss it a bit, but I do miss some of the posters.

longknife12 10-09-2014 02:16 PM

Pre 64 in 30-06. Got a 10 year supply of loading stuff for it. Topped with a Leupold 5X

Not one real hunter has answered this correctly since it started.

Just an impossible task to hunt with just one gun, rifles do not lend them selves well to ducks, geese, grouse and partridge.
Squirrels and rabbits don't stand up to hits from a high power rifle either.
Shot guns don't work so auto well for thing on the plains and so on.

:D Al

I would have to say my marlin 30/30 had it since I was 16 and been through hell and back with me and still in great shape an accurate out to two hundred yards

Brandon_SPC 12-20-2014 10:33 AM

No one will every have me give my firearms up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1.

Just one? Not even 1 rifle and 1 shotgun? Maybe I joined the wrong forum.

rafsob 11-20-2015 09:28 AM

They asked for guns not rifles!!!!! Ruger would be my natural pick for both handguns and rifles and even shotguns!!! Lot to choose from.

subarcticshooter 02-04-2016 12:04 PM

I would choose my 7mm-08 Remington. I like the 5R Rifling and the softness of the trigger is just awesome. It is so light the rifle is so accurate. The 120 grain Accutip Remington on a bull moose filled my freezer this fall. And I believe it will do that over and over again when I do my part, and also if I continue to treat it like a precision instrument.

JoeA 04-22-2016 01:48 AM

Citori 3" 12ga field. With the right loads could shoot turkeys, ducks, geese, upland, small game, deer, hogs, home defense, and also shoot clay targets!

ezearl 04-26-2016 02:04 PM

Husqvarna 1640 in .30-06. Not that there's anything wrong with the other makes at all. It's just how this one is set up that makes it my favorite. It really is a SWEET action.

wild bill g 05-26-2016 06:45 AM

I chose my Sako in 300 Wby because it can cover anything I'll hunt. But giving all my guns but one that is just mean lol!

excalibur43 07-25-2016 11:47 PM

If I could only keep 1 gun, it would be my Browning Gold.

TN Lone Wolf 09-04-2016 12:09 PM

As much as I love my Weatherby Vanguard, I'd choose my T/C Encore to keep for four reasons:

1. It's easy to tune and clean.
2. It's the most accurate gun I own.
3. With this one gun, I can still have multiple barrels chambered in many cartridges for every configuration from rifle, to shotgun, to handgun.
4. It just looks bad@$$:

Mando 09-24-2016 02:17 PM

SakoAV, .270 Win or SakoAV 7MM Rem Mag

Necroz 11-28-2016 01:10 AM

The history of the m16 is interesting.

Juston 07-16-2017 06:23 AM

Is this for self defense or for hunting? Self defense would be my wasr10 and hunting would be my marlin express 308.

REM_7600 12-08-2017 04:35 PM

As others have pointed out... too many variables. Ammo availability, use, reloading, SHTF, carryability, etc...

All other factors equal, I'd have to say my 1st real gun - Ruger 10/22

REM7600

PS: I wouldn't fault anyone that chose a .12ga either

REM_7600 12-08-2017 04:37 PM

JoeA,

What about a slug in that puppy!

Moose, Deer, Bear, Large bear, etc.

REM7600

Xymox 03-08-2018 11:31 AM

700 BDL 7 MM Rem Mag

oldenuff 04-24-2018 01:06 PM

I second that motion.

280 REM MOUNTAIN RIFLE out of the custom shop and topped with a good Leupold 4X14 50MM.

hardcastonly 04-24-2018 04:11 PM

best gun for what?
if limited to a single firearm, I want a stainless heavy barrel 308 win M1a with a decent 4x16x 50mm scope

if were talking hunting I want a weatherby fibermark markV stainless 340 wby with a decent 4x16x 50mm scope

in a combat pistol I want a glock 10mm mod 40 with a lone wolf barrel

for plinking a marlin mod 39 22lr with a 2x/7x leopold scope will do.

billyboy 09-15-2018 07:25 PM

New guy here ,I would keep my Winchester model 70 extreme weather in 7mm-08 .

clearwateralaskaoutfitter 10-01-2018 03:05 AM

I would choose the Remington Model 700. It is a superior performer in every way..

Berserker 10-01-2018 04:14 AM

Ya I would go with 700, I don't like my savages. 30-06 because that is what I use mostly, but lots of good calibers.

hardcastonly 07-02-2020 05:21 PM

limited to only one\

M1A™ SUPER MATCH .308 RIFLE – BLACK heavy match stainless synthetic

but ID really miss the rifle I have used for 4 plus decades
on most of my serious hunting trips. its a consistently accurate,
weatherby mark V stainless synthetic heavy match barrel in caliber 340- wby,
with a muzzle brake ,thats very similar to this picture, posted below,
the only reason the M1a1 gets the nod is you did not say that only rifle selected is only to be used for hunting
and if my family may be at risk , some day, I want a well known and very familiar friend in my hands.

Remington 870

SarahWilsonJG 08-29-2023 11:23 AM

I have a Winchester wildcat. I have heard a lot of good things about that Remington gun. You think I should buy it?

No. Remington isn’t Remington any more. They were bought out of bankruptcy by the sheister who ran the former company into the ground, and they are only trading now on the legacy of the name they bought.
