FULL SIZE M&P 40 CALIBER PISTOL
 

I am going to a gun show this weekend. I think I am going to buy a S&W M&P in 40 caliber. This will be my first 40 caliber. I have a couple high capacity Beretta 9mm's, but I do not care a lot for the 9mm. What do you guy's think about the 40??? About the M&P??? What would be a good price??? Tom.

THe 40 is a great pistol round. It is my favorite, and I carry one almost every day. I've shot a ton of varmints with mine, from rabbits, to skunks, badgers, coons, etc etc etc. It performs very well, and I can get some good deals every once in a while on some Remington HPs.

I've never shot a M&P, so I can't be much help to you there.

My 40 is a Springfield XD Tactical model.

My opinion that its great in a compact pistol as its quite a bit more powerful than the 9mm and can be chambered in pistols designed for the 9mm. In a full sized pistol its pointless- If the same sized pistol is available in .45acp, get the .45.

Like briman said-go with a .45 in a full size pistol. Another bit of food for thought is to compare various pistols such as the springfield xd and para ordnance Lda series before you buy.

Look for a Sig. If you shoot one I promise you'll love it.

I have owned a Sig P220, P225, and P226. I agree they are great pistols. They are probably one of the best. I just got the notion to buy another S&W. I am not sure why. The last S&W semi. I had was a 745 IPSC, and it was a dandy. I also had a Model 39, and it was a piece of junk. I just wanted to try a 40 S&W in a pistol that is not too expensive. Tom.
