Best air rifle ????
 

I am looking for a air rifle for my 10 year old boy.
He already shoots regular rifles 7-08 / 243and has taken 4 deer in the last two years. .
I want a good quality, acurate and something with enough power to take rabits and squrils at close range.
I want to work with Him on His stalking skills. I think this help. Thanks

I would go with a rws or gamo in full size and top of the line scope that's rated for air rifles.

I'm skip the Gamo if you're looking for quality. The better RWS and Beemans will be much higher quality rifles. Avoid the the cheap Spanish guns that Beeman is now importing. Stick with the German made guns for quality. A Beeman R7 or R9 won't break the bank and are quality rifles.

I have 4 or 5 pellet rifles around, and here's another vote for RWS. My RWS 45 has been a "best buy" for me, and i like it so much i bought a second one, when i saw a nice used one forsale...

Gamo shotgun/pellet gun u can change the gun to shotgun to 22.Cal pellet gun with an adapter the shotshells are 10# size and shoot pigdions right out of the air at about 20 - 30 yard good gun

I have a couple RWS and I really like them. They can be a little big for a small kid since mine are actually longer and heavier than my regular rifles though.

RWS, no scope. Teach your son how to shoot open sights. The better ones come with target sights. Too many hunter's do not know how to shoot with open sights. Teach him the right way. Tom.

Another vote for the RWS-line.

I've got a nice 48-B and I love it. I've killed a possum and a raccoon with mine. One-shot each. It might be a little big for a young guy, but a 45 or 34would be better for him. And make sure you get him a scope that's rated for the reverse-recoil of spring-guns.

I'd stay away from the pump-guns. They're not consistant, and a pain to pump, especially if you're shooting for acouple hours.

The Weihrauch line is hard to beat for a quality air gun.I own the HW97 laminate myself.

Has anyone tried the viper express shotgun?
It looks like a cool concept but i wonder if it actually works. :)

Anyways i would just get a pump action bbim 13 and thats what i use around in my backyard.

I have a RWS 34. I like it a lot. It may be a little hard to cock for a 10 year old but he'll love to shoot it.

Don't waste your time and money on the Spanish and Chinese junk.Beeman lower end are from the same makers.[German]Weirauch or RWS in that order.I have a HW80K.22 and my son has a RWS34.22 Nice for pot shooting grouse and rabbits.Both cleanly kill anything up to 20lbs with headshots.Harold *the Webley Patriot .25 will take coyotes in the head

Last yeat I got my 14 year old son a RWS 34 Panther in .22 caliber. Mounted a Centerpoint 3-9x 32mm scope on it. Very accurate set up, and the .22 caliber does a number on small game. See attached links on scope and rifle. I highly recommend both of them.

My favorite that I've ever owned is a daisy 1000. Shoots .177, its a break barrel so you don't have to pump. It has ended the life of many a squirrel and rabbit. Hell I even snipe doves wit it

I have a gamo stalker with a scope and love it.
I've killed a muskrat @ 50 yards and a crow @ 60 yards with head shots!
If the boy is strong enough to cock the barrel I would recommend it.

Sheridans are nice and fast,--Good velocity.............Rws cant beat'em,...
Gamo pump?.................UUUMMMMMMMMMMMM........As for the shotgun,
I'm not impressed,.........So so Idea on Gamo's part. But better things are always yet to come.

First, I'd go with a .22 caliber.

Second, don't buy something cheap

i have a cheap Gamo. Dang it's hard to shoot. I don't remember which model I have, but it's a 1000 fps spring piston wood model (.177).

It's impossible to shoot good with it. The trigger's horrible. It kicks like a mule (foreward) which that hurts accuracy.

they say air guns take a ton of shots to break in before they become more accurate, and like every gun you have to find which pelletts shoot best.

another tip, clean the barrel when it's new because there's usually some crap in the barrel.

I orderedthe RWS model 34 with scope and mounts. All of the reviews I have read indicate this is a good purchase. When the gun arrives from Cabelas I can give a report on this firearm if anyone is interested.
You guys helped Me decide. I really did not want to spend 300 + bucks for an air rifle. Good thing it comes with a life time warranty.
