Gunsmithing
What can I expect to pay to have my shotgun barrel (reminton 870 wingmaster) threaded for a choke? Right now its a full choke barrel but I would like to use the gun for multiple purposes.

RE: Gunsmithing
There's 3 seperate steps that need to be done for choke tubes. First the choke has to be reamed away, then the barrel has to be reaned for the choke tubes, and finally the barrel has to be threaded for the tubes)whatever type you choose). I usually charge from $80-100 for the above processes however I think that I might be on low side because I havn't raised my charges for this type of work in years. And NO I;m NOT trying to get business on this forum.

RE: Gunsmithing
Stalking bear is about half priced. $150 is more the norm. You should look around on the web for a piece as common as the 870 you can probably buy a barrel for about half that....

RE: Gunsmithing
you could find a barrel that is already threaded at a gun show or gun shop and hang on to your original for an extra, this way original gun value will be retained and you wont have to alter your gun, just change the barrel, and I've seen them sell for about what it would cost to have this done.

RE: Gunsmithing
I agree with coyote. Just buy a threaded Remington barrel. You can always sell the other barrel if you don't need it.
