I don' t have one in a SAUM but I would think shooting a SAUM in a Model 7 could be a real hand full.

I have two model sevens. one in 6mm and 308. the 308 packs a pretty decent punch. it' s light and very effective on deer. where it shines is hunting out of a climbing stand. it is small ,light and agile. accuracyis good but i don' t try and shoot it in long range situations.
I really think the 308 is perfect caliber for the gun. or 7mm-08!

BEAR, try shortmags.org they have quite a bit of info plus they have a forum that you probably could get some of your questions answered there.
