30-06 and a 416 Rigby,
have both, have bigger, have smaller, those are the two I'd choose to bridge the gap.

The 30-06 is well proven with a tremenduous range of versatility, but runs out of gas on the high end.

The 416 Rigby shinesbecause some African game cannot be hunted with a sub .40 cartridge,yet when loaded warm with 325gr Barnes bullets, the Rigbycan shoot flatter than the 30-06 can with 180 grainers.

Both are very wide ranging rifles and the fact one is over 100 years old and the other is pushing it very hard is just icing on the cake, IMO.

Well, i'm going to answer it as it was asked...

First i'd pick the "go to" gun that i use now. It's a Krieghoff Drilling...

Second one would probably be a Remington 700, as i'm most fimilar with them, and they have been very good to me...

25-06 and a 375 Ruger.

The reason i picked the 06 and the 505 Gibbs is because you can buy 55 grain shells for the 06 and u can go up all the way to 220 Grain so fro that matter the 06 could hunt everything up to elk moose bear and bigger then the elk moose and bear there the 505 Gibbs for Elaphant :D
