How much does a German Luger worth
 

I was wondering how much a german luger is worth.
This older gentleman that I work with was telling me that one time when he fought in WWII someone in his squad shot and killed a German officer and he went over and picked the pistol off the officer. So i was wondering how much would it be worth. Any info would be great.

When dealing with collectables an item is worth only what someone is willing to pay. However, here are a few things to consider when trying to get a value off your friends Luger.

- Don't assume because a dealer has one listed for 2K that ALL Lugers are worth 2K. Likewise don't assume that if one is for sale for $500.00 your is only worth $500.00. There are a lot of things that effect value price:

- Condition (should be original, not refinished)

- Matching parts (All serial numbers should match) (mismatched parts will
effect value)

- Certain serial number ranges are more desireable than others

- Certain years of manufacture are more desireable

- Certain makers are more desireable because some makers are rarer than others.

- Is the pistol on a permit
