smith and wesson 422 vs 22A
I have found both of these guns for $150 at a gun shop and a pawn shop. Both are in similar condition with 6 inch barrels. Which would you recommend and why, the older version or the newer version.

422
![]() 22A I have a 622 (same gun, different finish). Shoots accurately and can be fun, but finicky on ammo for reliability. Bummer for a new shooter you're trying to teach to have frequent feeding issues and misfires. Also a PITA (Pain In The Butt) to clean. The baked on silver finish on my 622 developed significant blemishes, even with proper care. Haven't tried a 22A, but I thought the barrel arrangement was cool. Didn't care for the cheesy grip. |
RE: smith and wesson 422 vs 22A
Hey Bulzeye, I have a twin to that 422, walnut grips, target sites and all. It's been a great 22. I can't tell by the small picture off the 22A but it looks like it has a rail on top for mounting a scope. At my age these days and having to wear bifocals I find scopes are much better for shooting. All my hunting long guns have scopes. Never handled a 22A but I give the 422 a A+. Heres mine.....
