cantilever barrel for my 870
 

planning on getting a cantilever barrel for my 870.
notices that mossberg makes one w/scope for 180ish and then remingtons go for about70 bucks more.
whats the difference?

not sure if i like the way the cant is mounted on the rem barrel! looked at a new one and it looks like a rust magnet there!

I have one on my Mossberg. For some reason the old one i had the scope base got bent. I guess thee was some pressure from storing it in my closet but i got another one and just leave it off the gun in a soft case and havnt had a problem in 3 years now. My first one only lasted 1 season. It was hitting 13in higher then the last year with the same ammo at 100 yards.

I have the Mossberg trophy slugster with the cantilever base, It's the only way to mount a scope on a shot gun. $180. vs. $70. there must be a reason for the price difference. Go with the Mossberg barrel for your Rem.

Get a Hastings w/ cantilever from Cabela's (or other place) and be done with it. Cheaper than the Remingtons and better quality too, IMHO.

looked them up at cabelasand they seem to be more $ without scope!
i counldnt tell if the cantilever isscrewed on like the rem or welded like the mossberg.
can anyone say if one is more accutate then the other?
or why the price difference?
for 170 with a bushnell scope, if there aint no difference, mossberg gets the sale.
i can resell that scope and get some cash back where as the rem has a cheapo noname scope and the hastings has none for $250!

I have noticed Hastings barrels are getting more expensive but they are alot better barrels then the Mossberg or Remington. So for which is better between the Mossberg and the Remington you will get a bunch of differetn answer on that one but i feel that theya re about the same.

Check out Badger barrels. They claim better accuracy than Hastings, and they are made in USA. Oh ya, they are cheaper than Hastings and Rems. $209 from they're web site, Cabelas sells them under the name American Barrel, and they sell them for $179.99.
