Springfield M1A Standard

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Springfield M1A Standard with the fiberglass stock. I really want to know what kind of accuracy they are capable of.

Thanks

Not the standard but ive shot the socom and the loaded. They are very accurate rifles and i would think any of them are capable of 2" or so at 100. Both i shot were in the 1 1/2 to 2" range.

Thanks 700bdl. Thats the same accuracy the guys on the ar15 boards are talking as well.

I think it'd make a fun deer drive gun. :D

It'd be a HEAVY deer drive rifle, for sure.

Just my opinion, and we all know what opinions are like, but I'm not sure I'd want to drive deer with a rifle. And I know that I wouldn't want to be driving deer with anyone that has a rifle.

Our deer drives here are alot different than your probably used to in New Jersey. We can see up to 7 miles in most areas, it is wide open and flat, with no trees. Once the deer start getting pushed around we send guys on a few mile hikes, and you walk cattail sloughs, patches of CRP, foodplots, etc. Your hardly ever within a mile of the next nearest guy on the drive.

Yeah, I just saw you were from South Dakota and realized that you guys probably have some pretty far shots. You're right, buckshot or slugs won't cut it out there!:D

You could use Slugs or Buckshot opening morning, and after that you might have alot of un-used shells by the end of season. ;)I'd say my average shot on my bucks over the last 10 years has been 250 yards.
