Default Shotgun for clay shooting

Anyone have a suggestion for a good 12 or 20 gauge over under for the casual clay bird shooter? Looking to spend $500 or less if possible.

Good luck cjp - a decent O/U will cost easily double or more what you're lookiing to spend. Browning, Beretta etc. You may be able to get a Stoeger for around the price you're looking at but I have no experience with them. Also Savage and Mossberg make an O/U for around this price.

Not sure where you are, but, if there's a nearby Academy, you might take a look at one of these:

Good and 500 will not cut it for a o/u not even for a Turkish o/u...Look around for a Miroku O/U in 12 gauge..Same people that builds the Citori. Charles Daly imported them awhile ago and they are a lifetime gun and one you can pass on... Here is a perfect one on gunbroker for your price. I will give you a little history on Mroku o/u's they are copied heavily from the old Browning Superposed shotgun.http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=90625548

I think the Remington Spartan can be had for right around $400. Has screw in chokes.

The Stoeger is a good O/U for the money. You should be able to get it for around 500.00 easy..

That is what I have. I LOVE it. Easily on par with over/unders that cost twice as much.

A beat upold goodone will serve you better than a new cheap one. I've seen old citoris for $600, not pretty but worked.

The spartan 310 is very much overlooked. Build wise it is solid, the detailing is not the greatest but for a working gun. Its ideal. I love mine. Ive got the 12ga 28" nickle reciever with pheasant on one side and a duck on the other. Would and did buy it over a stoeger or mossberg anyday.
