Here you gohttp://www.gunsinternational.com/detail.cfm?id=100033991&string=s=today

I saw the last one in the mid 70's and I would have had to buy the pair or nothing a 243 and a 308 from a gunshop. At that time just getting out of college it was a reach. I believe he wanted 350 for each of them. I am here to tell you that it was the smoothest lever rifle I have ever dealt with. Oh what the heck water under the bridge.

I couldn’t spend that type of cash on a rifle and just look at it...

243 with 100gr ammo is fine for deer. Wives and I havetaken quite a few back in PA with 243 yrs ago. Save the 75 and 87gr ammo for varmints and antelope.

Heck out here in Colo we got women and teens killing big bull elk with 243's every season. Not my cup of tea but dozens and dozens of Colo elk fall every yr to a well aimed 243 100gr bullet.

Would a Remington 7600243 cal.rifle be enough to take whitetail deer?
If so what grain bullet do you users of a 243 cal. use? What brand ammo/type? Can this gun knock them down, or is it a tracking game like archery?
Thank you so very much for any replys,
First time Rifle hunter.
CHAS.....
There is no rifle that you can fire from the shoulder (well, maybe the 75mm recolless) that will knock a deer (or any other large animal) down every time you shoot one. But if you get an opportunity to place your bullet exactly right, you will NOT have nearly as long a distance to track him as you would shooting a box!

a Sako lever rifle.

That Sako Finnwolf was a very beautiful rifle. It looked to be a very similar design to the Winchester Model 88, with a one-piece stock and a front-locking bolt so it could chamber high-intensity rounds. I'm sorry they stopped making it. Maybe sales were not that great. Wanna see one??
