.22 LR---------Marlin Model 60 or Mossberg 720 Plinkster?

I am going to get a semi-auto .22 rifle. The Marlin Model 60 and the Mossberg 720 Plinkster are both in my price range for a .22 rifle. I am leaning toward the Marlin but not sure. Any help would be great.
Thanks

[&:] Ahhh,, me confused a bit. You're getting a 10/22 but also wondering about a Marlin or Mossberg? I think I'm missing something.

Im looking at a very accurate gun and the best quality
If your serious about a very accurate .22lr rifle, look at differnt models than those listed. The ones mentioned will suffice perhaps depending on your needs but there's definately more accurate models available. they just cost a bit more.

Your still saying confusing things. The 10/22 is not a style of .22 long rifle. It is actually a model number made by Ruger. The Ruger 10/22. Both of the guns you mentioned are not even of the same design as a Ruger 10/22. The only thing they have in common is they are semi auto 22's.

You are either going to get a 10/22 made by ruger, a marlin model 60 or a mossberg plinkster. Not a marlin model 60 10/22 type rifle, there is no such thing.

They are all models of 22 rimfire guns made by different companies.

I would suggest the Marlin model 60 for casual shooting and hunting and the ruger 10/22 if you intend on target shooting or tricking out the gun. You can do almost anything to a 10/22 if you want to.

I don't know much about the mossberg, but if they are in the price range I would personally pick the marlin simply because I have owned them and know they work well.

As Paul said, it's still not clear as you wrote it.
Regardless, forget the Plinkster. So between a Marlin 60 or 70 and a Ruger 10/22, go with the 10/22. It's fine for all you'll need it for and it has a HUGE availability for upgrading ever part on it as you wish. I have both a Marlin and many Ruger 10/22's. All shoot quite well with the upgraded Ruger's shooting mch better.
Maybe clarify hat you are wanting this for more.

A bone stock $120 marlin 60 will outshoot a $750 tricked outruger 10/22 9 times out of 10.

moss, if you want an extremely accurate 22, take a look at this 22mag. It's a Savage bolt mounted with a 3 x 9 Bushnell. I am surprised at the accuracy of this little rifle. I don't think you can go wrong with this combo. There are a ton of custom parts for the 10/22, but if you are looking for accuracy, you will not go wrong with this gun. I got it for $199 and the scope was $79.

If you are worried about price why opt for the semi auto? Just get a decent bolt action by savage or marlin.

Wouldn't hurt to look at used guns either, you can pick up used .22's pretty darn cheap and there is not a thing wrong with them if they were taken care of.

Your post makes much more sense now.

I would really like to know where you came up with that opinion!!! There's NO WAY a marlin/glenfield model 60 will EVEN come close to a custom 10/22. I know this from literally dozens of both models over the years. It seems you have very limited experience but that gives you no reason to act ignorant in making a statement like that. ALL the 10/22s I build as full customs(not just slapping a barrel/stock on and calling it building) will group at LEAST .300 at fifty yards for 10 shots and usually going into smaller groups than that.
