Accubonds
I am looking for a new bullet to use out of my .270 for whitetail hunting and I would like to hear what folks think about Nosler Accubonds?

My son has been shooting the Winchester Supreme 140 gr Accubonds for several years, and he has never had one fail to pass thru. Every animal has left good blood trails. I am starting to reload for him, and I am going to load Accubonds for him to shoot next year too.
I shoot a 9.3x62 and am shooting Accubonds in it too. |

I have dropped a lot of deer with the 140 NAB in .270. Never had to track any of them any farther than 75 ft. I like 'em!

I've heard people rave about them but only have one personal experience. My dad was shooting Federal Premiums loader with the Accubond out of his 7mm Rem Mag. I forget the weight. He shot a doe almost completely broadside at 40 yards. The deer ran about 200 yards. There was fresh snow so the tracks were easy to follow. NO BLOOD!!!!! I checked out the deer. Entrance through the ribs and no exit. It doesn't make any sense. Must have been poor QC or something. A cork should have penetrated at that speed and that angle.

I have seen hundreds of deer killed with regular old Sierra, Remington, and Winchester bullets. NO need to shoot such expensive bullets to kill a whitetail. Heck everybody on this site argues that the 22 Hornet is adequate. The accuracy would have to be 10 times better before I would pay such a price. Try the Sierra 130 grain Game King. Tom.

Goodbullet, a alternative to unbonded polymer tipswhere shots may be close or as easily further (+200). I experienced no problems with the 160AB on deer, elk or moose flung out of my 7mm rem mag. However inthis rifle just don't shoot as accurately as other loads (this is against the grain IME as the AB has typically put up very nice groups). My 270winis back up in hunting terms, soI load it with 150 NPin the event it is called upon can be used forupto and including Moose. I have tried 277/140AB's and theyshoot wellon paper.

With the limited bullet selection I have for my 325WSM I've found the 200 gr Accubonds to be the most accurate. My 270 Remington 700 just loves the Nosler Ballistic Tips in 130 gr pushed by 55 gr of IMR4350. It consistantly shoots little tiny clusters of them downrange.

My Rem. 700 7mm-08 has set it's dining preference on Accubonds in 140 gr. It shoots them very well, and no deer that I've shot with them had gone out of view. In fact, most just drop.

They are a very accurate bullet but why you would need one on whitetail with a 270 is beyond me.
