If the 270 wasn't so popular, A 6.5-06 and 280 would be much more popular.
I enjoy my 25-308 and 35 whelen. I am considering a 338-06.

Is that a wildcat? What kind of velocities etc... are you getting out of that round?

Yeah its to bad they had to bring it out in the(.25) WSSM line instead of the WSM line.It still isnt bad in preformance but just not catching on.

idunno,I'd have to look when I get home, but if I recall correctly, I am getting about 3000-3050fps with 100gr gk's and about 2850-2900 w/ 115's and 117's. The balistics are very similar to a .243. To develop loads, I have compared data from the .243, .257 bob, .250 savage and .260 and went from there. I got the gun from an older gentleman, who needed some work done around his house. He said he had got 3150-3200 fps w/ 100's. I ???? that. The gun itself is somewhat impractical because it is so long and heavy. It is a mauser action, savage 26" ss fluted 25-06 barrel with the threads shortened to chamber the 08 brass, with a boyds jrs stock. I use at as a plinker. I think, I would hunt with it if I cut the barrel down to about 20-21".

I always wanted a pre '64 Winchester 70 in 264 WM and Remington M788 in 6mm Remington. I think both of those cartridges would be spectacular with the right bullet/powder combination.
