RE: the new SakoA7
I think your looking at tikkas replacement.
|
RE: the new SakoA7
It looks alot like a Tikka to me. I like my Tikka alot but the Sako has a higher price tag then my Tikka did.
|
RE: the new SakoA7
I found the 85’s resembled the Tikka and this new Sako sure looks similar. I much prefer my Sako 75’s...
|
RE: the new SakoA7
The bolt looks just like the Tikka bolt!
|
RE: the new SakoA7
Maybe so but the Sako has three locking lugs where as the Tikka has only two...
|
RE: the new SakoA7
The 75 and 85 do, but does this one?
|
RE: the new SakoA7
It does, but not sure I would want to spend an xtra $500 over the price of a Tikka to get an xtra lug!
|
RE: the new SakoA7
There’s a little more to it then just appearance and one locking lug between the Sako & Tikka...

RE: the new SakoA7
Looks to me like it is a tweener gun, Not a 75 or 85 Sako but yet more than the T3. Actually reminds me of my Sako TRG-S that I shoot. I have both the Sako's and the Tikka's and i can tell you there IS a difference. just go to your local gun counter and feel them both. The Tikka is a excellent gun for the money, probably the best actually. The Sako however, is a whole new catergory. The 3 lugs will help with accuracy if they are lapped properly and just about every Sako i have seen is lapped well enough to not mess with even for competition. Nice weights on these new A7's. Cant wait to see one!
Now only if they had a thumbhole stocked model.............. |
RE: the new SakoA7
Seemed on the light side. I guess they are trying to fill the nitche (non-existant???) between a Tikka and a real Sako (75 IMO). Price point puts it it head to head combat with the M70 remake and the Icon I guess. I'll stick with my 75 although I'm sure this would do in a "pinch".

RE: the new SakoA7
That is an interesting introduction. Off the top of my head the 2 length action design ,3 lug bolt design and the non protruding magazine make it veryinteresting. I wonder if it has the Sako trigger or the Tikka trigger? Funny how since Beretta took over Sako they have had many more new model intros then in the previous 20 years.

I think it has lots to do with trying to appeal to the American market... |

the website shows weaver style scope bases instead of the dovetails looks like a cost cutting measure to make it more affordable. Does anybody know what the list price will be?

Not sure if it is a cost cutting measure as much as it is making it more universal to appeal to the everyday buyer, the DT mounts are not as common to find as the Weavers. |
