Shotgun Barrel Question

Gander Moutain just told me they want $200 for a rifled barrel for my Reminton 12 guageExpress. The gun was only $300 hundred new. Damn that sounds expensive.Does that sound right? Is there a cheaper way of doing it? What's the chances of finding a used one?

Thanks Bryan

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

I have a matte finish Remington fully rifled cantilever barrel that is as new one (6 slugs shot in it is all) with a 3x9x32 scope on it ready to go for $200 shipped to your door if interested?
Or I have a rib mount scope system that you can mount on your existing VR barrel Mount and new Red Dot scope $100 shipped
e-mail me at [email protected] if this will help you?

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

CL,
If you don't go with the barrels listed above then I would check out cabelas. I got a decent deal on a rifled barrel with cantilever on there. That was around $189 without tax, so around $200 with a cantilever is normal. You might be able to find one for less if you don't want one with a cantilever barrel. Check out some gun shops as well. I know of a gun shop near me that has used barrels. Good luck.

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

I believe if I was going to shell out a couple of hundred bucks for a slug barrell I would go ahead and go the whole route and get a Hastings or something comparable.

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

It's a good time of year to keep your eye on the on-line aution sites. I was looking last year at getting a cantilever barrel for my son's 870, ended up with a full 870 shotgun with a cantilever rifled barrel for $200. It had a scraped up stock, and was 12ga, so I put a Boyd's thumbhole stock on it and it has replaced my Nova as my deer shotgun. (I also ended up with a second 870 in 20ga for my son and put a saddle mount on his other one with the rifled barrel, rifle sights). Anyway, I spent about 2 1/2 times what I would have had I just bought the cantilever barrel, but now I have two more guns.

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

I'm looking for the same thing. I came across Badger barrels. Yep, $200 but thats cheaper than hastings, and about the same as remington replacements. They claim 4 inches or less out to 150-175 yards, Hastings only claims 2-3 inches at 100 yards. USNRET is right, sometimes you can find a good deal on the whole gun!

$200.00is about right as far asretail. I can get them wholesale and the Remington rifled barrelsrunme about $140.00 plus shipping.

RE: Shotgun Barrel Question

I've seen Mossberg barrels advertised for Remingtons. These are a bit cheaper in price. If you are not looking for a scope barrel then you may consider a smooth bore with rifle sights. My Express's smooth bore has served me well. If your shots are under 100 yards you might consider it. I really cannot tell that it hits any differently than my Wingmaster which has a rifled barrel. No scopes though.
