If you want a lever gun for her, a Savage Model 99 in 250/3000 is a sweet one she could handle. Very low recoil. But what's wrong with the 223 she is already shooting? Or are they not legal for deer in PA? Many states they are both legal and very effective. 30/30s have a surprising amount of recoil and if they don't fit you right it's worse. On paper it may be half of a 30/06 but the rifles are normally a pound or two lighter and stocked rather poorly.

Although legal here in Louisiana I feel that's just a little light for deer. 22 hornet is legal here too, but for anything other than a close head shot I just wouldn't try it. I would probably suggest a minimum of 243. I'm planning to either go with that or the 7mm-08 when my boys are old enough to start shooting.

I want atleast a 243 for her. I just wanted a levergun for me so i was thinking a 30-30. A 223 is legal to hunt here. Actuall any centerfire rifle is legal here. I got a nice 9 point with my 204 this year when i took it out out to try to get a small doe with it. I couldnt pass this buck up ina SGLI would not recomend for anyone tohunt with that small of a gun. The one on teh right i got with the 204. I got the one on the left that morning archery hunting in DE.

ya getting a good fit and knowing how to hold the gun is a great tip
when i got my mossberg i went to a range shot some 71/2s small loads some turkey loads and then figure i would shoot a slug to see how made the recoil was
well i load a slug pumped it and by mistake i put it on my uppr arm muscle not my shoulde well i came to tears when i shoot it just about droped the gun
and 2 months later it still hurts

Whatever gun you get make sure it fits her. A bad fit can make a gun feel alot worse than it actually is. My Marlin 336 30-30win used to bust the bridge of my nose almost every time I took it to the range. I finally figured out how to shoot and now much harder recoiling guns don't even phase me.
I would recommend a .243, 6mm Remington, .257 Roberts, a .260 Remington or a 7mm/'08.

Well we came to a decision. She loves my 204 so she is gonna cost me a fortune on a new CZ. I have a CZ 550 American in 243 on order from the local gunshop. I wanted the varmint but he could only get it in 308. Ohh well. Now the decision of what scope to put on it. Im thinking a Nikon Buckmasters 3x-9x like i have on my 300 WSM.

The Buckmaster is a good scope, one of my buddies has one...The ProStaff is also good, he has a couple of them...
Try the 100gr Remington CoreLokts in that .243, I've killed about 90 deer with that bullet...If they don't group, go to the Hornady Custom 100gr Interlock...I killed 10-12 with that bullet as well...My gun just likes the CoreLokts a little better and they are cheaper...
Good Luck...
