m48 mauser rebarrel
 
just heard that the m48 mauser i just ordered to convert to another calibre
has some kind of milling in the barrel so that i can't use 98 barrel on???

anyone heard this

I dont quite understand your question, if your wanting to change the caliber you need to change the barrel unless your wanting to wildcat it to 8mm-06, then you would need to make sure it has a barrel bore of .323 or you might have a high presure issue. Your best action would be to wait until you have the rifle, then take it to a competent gunsmith to make sure it is a good action worth building on.

M48's are ALL "S" bored-(.323"). I have no idea what you may be referring to, but I'd bet you can use virtually any barrel with the correct thread that would work on any M98-type Mauser action.......

The M48 is different than other mauser 98s in that it has a notch milled in the barrel breech for the extractor just leke a 1903 springfield or Winchester Model 70. Any barrel that is threaded to fit a large ring mauser will fit the action, but it will need some machine work for the extractor groove.
