I can't believe that mag-na-porting a 22 would have any effect other than increasing the noise.

The wonders of marketing gimmicks never cease to amaze me. Due to the lack of felt recoil on a Ruger Single Six, about the only thing that could cause flinching would be the muzzle blast. Well actually lets call it muzzle crack because it isn't really strong enough to be a blast. Anyways the 22 LR is a mere pop but the 22 WMR has a high pitched crack. Both would be worse if you port the barrel so I feel it wouldn't be at all benificial.

That's a waste of time and money Mag-na-porting a 22.There is no recoil to speak of with any 22. All it will do is increase the noise level.Shooting at night possibly could give a blinding flash but I doubt it.I just don't see the point in it. It's to each their own I guess.

I've got a ported barrel on a 22 rifle (don't laugh guys, it came that way) and I can't tell a bit of difference between it and any of my other 22 rifles. The effect of porting on a pistol couldn't be any more. Incidently, the purpose of porting the rifle barrel was for quicker follow-up shots.

...aren't most Olympic competition 22 pistols ported? I doubt that it's strictly a gimmick... I'm sure it works to some extent. I'm just not sure that in a heavy barrelled 22 rifle that it would make a significant enough improvement to justify the added cost. A pistol is another story.
