M1 Carbine

This may not be considered a hunting weapon but can anyone give me a rough estimate of what a Universal M1 carbine (2nd generation) could sell for? A friend of mine found it in the attic after her stepfather died and she wants to sell it. THanks.

Depending on what shape it is in, I would say somewhere between $200-$450.

These are pretty good carbines except the one I had was made with a pot metal lower assembly. Replace that with steel GI assembly and you've probably got a good carbine. I'd guess $200 - $300. From what I've seen of them at gunshows, they don't sell very well. Everyone wants a GI in top shape and all the import "assault rifles" have pretty much killed interest in these fun little rifles.

The Universal M1 carbine was a commercial rifle. Not all were that reliable, they got worse with each "generation". Some had issues with trigger housings if memory serves me. Some however did shoot good and were somewhat reliable.:D

I think the $200.00 - $300.00 range is about all I'd pay for one....assuming it was in good condition.
