.17 HMR scope recommendation
 

I am looking to buy my grandpa a 17 for his birthday. What brand and power of scope would you recommend.

My Savage 93R came with a Simmons scope on it. I LOVE the scope.

I had a nice Bushnell Trophy 6-18 on my 17 HMR and found it did an excellent job...

I've got a NIB 6x18x50AO BSA for $100 shipped if interested? I've put several of these on 17HMRs and 22mags around here and the guys love em.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I settled on a Simmons 6.5-20X50. Now i got a couple of questions. i havent ever had a scope with an adjustable objective lens (the opposite end dont make fun). what exactly does that do. it has 50ft, 25 yards, etc. whats that for. sorry to ask stupid questions but i dont know?

You adjust the parallax at the distance you’re shooting and this will focus the scope for a clear image...

I had mine sighted in at 50 yards making it was bang on and then shot at 100 yards to see what the POI was...

I have mine sighted +1" at 100 which gives me approx. + or - 1" from 0 -150 yards. Since its main use is target and gophers(small game)this works the best for me.
