Rem 700 or 710

Is there a big difference btwn. Remington's 700 model and their 710 model because I saw the price difference but just wondering if there is any BIG physical or shooting wise difference btwn. them?

The 710 is a downright POS, while the 700 is a fine hunting rifle

The 700 is a nice firearm. The 710 was discountinued due to the fact that it was junk. The 770 does not look very good either.

Go with the 700 if you don't want to spend as much cash look for a ADL instead of a BDL. Walmart had the ADL's on sale right before Christmas for $300.00 and remington had a $30.00 dollar rebate on them. ADl's are great guns minus the finish, and hingled floor plate. Aparently remington has discontinued them but there are probally a few around yet in stores. The 710's were junk I looked at the 770 when I bought the ADL at Christmas there junk also the clerk dropped the bolt and the handle broke off. Looks and feels like a turd too.

The 700's are a far better built, better overall quality gun than the 710.

ahhhh! go with the 700, do not buy the 710! it is crap. I love my 700's and would not trade them for anything.

The model 710 is not a good wepon to begin withand to complicate mattersit's poorly engineered. Go with the 700 it will serve you well for many years.

RE: Rem 700 or 710

Im gonna have to agree splurge and spend the extra on the 700. The 710's have a action, a cheap stock and a real loose magazine, also in most of the scope gun package deals that u get the scopes arent good for anything over a .308 siz bullet due to the cheap discount prices remington gets on them from there manufacturer.

RE: Rem 700 or 710

The 710's tend to bereally inconsistent in quality. they are made as an inexpensive "first rifle", though I wouldn't recommend one to anybody. A friend of mine bought one when they first came out, and has had zero problems with it. He put a Nikon scope on it, because he didn't like the Bushnell it came with, but other than that it's been a great rifle for him. Apparently, from what I have heard from just about everywhere else, that is the exception rather than the rule. I know the lock work is different than the 700, I believe the bolt has rear lugs, and the barrel is pressed in. If remember right, I thinkI read that the chamber is actually in the reciever rather than the barrel? At any rate, the 700 is well worth the extra cost IMO

Well, for your purpos3es, the Model 700's extra cost over the 710 might not be worth it. It all depenmds on whether you want to have a rifle you can shoot as much as you'd like and be able to pass on to your kids or grand kids. if you do, get the 700. If you'll be satisfied with a rifle you can shoot two or three times a year for five years, get the 710......

Got to go with the crowd. I love my 700 BDL. I looked at a 710 and put it down as soon as I had picked it up. Even felt bad in my hands.[:'(]

RE: Rem 700 or 710

When i checked on a 710 out at the local gun shop, it literally had a red haze around it. I heard some otherworldy chanting in demonic voices echoing from the action and the barrel was bleeding brass. It was such a horribly bad gun that i couldnt even stare at it, I had to turn away to keep from crying from the sheer pain and anguish i suffered by being in the presence of one....

Oh man guys this is getting ridiculous!

Look, all BS aside, the gun isnt a bad gun, but it is a CHEAP gun. WIth guns, more often than not you are getting what you pay for. If you want to pay a 200 for a gun instead of paying 300 for a better gun, your most likely getting a gun that is only 2/3rds as good as as the more expensive one. Especially whn comparing two guns of the same brand. Will the gun shoot, YES, will it shoot somewhat accurately, YES, will it shoot more than once, YES, is it gonna fall apart just by holding it, NO, but is it gonna last you a lifetime if you use it a lot....most likely not. At 100 yards, the deer will be as dead with a 710 as it is with a 700 and odds are the shot will be in the same place regardless of the gun you use. People may attack the quality of the gun which can easily be done, but not many people can attack the accuracy for the price. If you are only gonna carry it into the woods once or twice a year, it will last you a long time, maybe even outlast you, but it prolly wont outlast your kids and grandkids and their grandkids while a 700, if taken care of properly, will.
