South Paw Turkey Guns?

I'm looking to get a left handed turkey gun. Not looking for anything too fancy, just something that doesn't shoot a shell out at me like a right handed gun. Seems like there's tons of options for right handers...I missed the boat because I'm southpaw.

1.) What does anyone suggest for a gun?

2.)Is a 28" barrel(Remington 870 Express) too long of a barrel for turkeys?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

RE: South Paw Turkey Guns?

If you like pump shotguns, I'd strongly recommend the Browning BPS. It's a bottom ejector, ejecting the empty shells through the loading port on the bottom of the reciever. This feature makes it completely ambidexterous. It's also got an easy to use tang safety that it also ambidexterous, so it's just about the perfect magazine-fed shotgun for lefties. I believe that they make a turkey version of the BPS as well.

My BPS would throw the shells about 3' in front of my feet when pumped standing up. I would imagine that this would make them popular in a crouded duck blind since it won't bounce shells off your buddies face! It'd also be a nice feature if you collect hulls to reload (which I don't). The only downside (which might not even be a downside depending on your perspective) is that the BPS's are heavier than other similar pump-guns, mostly because they still have a lot of steel in them and they don't have a separate ejection port in the side. I loved my BPS and regret having to sell it.

I bought a BPS 3 1/2for turkey but I also use it for clays on the farm. I originally chose it because my 3 year old son seems to be leaning towards being a lefty and I will be able to pass it on to him. I have been extremely satisfied with its' performance.

Ihave a very nice Browning BPS 12ga game hunter version. It has 3 screw in chokes(includes turkey) and this barrel has rifled sights and is 20.5 inch long. The shells eject out the bottom of the reciever and has a top slide safety. The ultimate left handed turkey and or deer slayer. $300 shipped e-mail me [email protected] to discuss if interested?
