Why do you say that the rechamber to 7 RUM was a mistake? I rebarreled to 7 RUM from 7 STW and was tickled with the performance. I used a REM take off BBL. and it worked well enought to make me smile. I would like to hear more about your project if you'll share it with me!

I had the switch done by E.R. Shaw 7 years ago. They did a fantastic job and the rifle shoots great. The 7mmRUM is not catching on like I thought it would. Very few are offering the round anymore in a rifle and Remington is the only one loading for it. I don't reload so I have only 2 rounds to choose from Remington. Reloading data is not as available either vs the STW. My .02

Buck, if you took up reloading, a whole new world would open up for you. It is the most gratifying feeling to take game with rounds that you prepared yourself. I haven't bought a round of ammunition since 1973. I buy some hard to get stuff just to put away for an investment like the weatherby stuff I bought a few years ago. I still have it and will not shoot it. You really ought to try it. It's not hard to learn and then your hooked to tailoring your own ammo. Wow what a great feeling.
