I have a question for you, Payton. Have you asked your Dad this question before you came on here to ask a bunch of strangers? And if so, what was his answer?

Well, I know people that have taken several Elk with a 22-250 using Speer 70 grain semi spitzers.

I'll bet it just smashes their shoulders and DRT's them right there

RE: my 22-250

I have shot one deer with mine, 70 grain Speer semi spitzer, a young doe, she dropped in here tracks. I have some Nosler 60 grain partitions I would like to try on deer. I know a few people that use the 22-250 for deer and as long as you pick your shots it will kill deer, and use the right bullets.

The guy that hunted elk was a great hunter, as he said you have to be real picky about your shots, no shoulder shots, but if you put one in the boiler room and at reasonable distance it will kill. The guy said it killed them fast, must have been the shock wave.

I would be hesitent to try the 22-250 on elk myself. I know another ole guy that has hunted elk for years with a 250-300 and it isn't considered an elk gun either. It is more important to be a good shot than to have a big gun.

the problem is know one ever 'picks there shots ' perfectly everytime so why take the chance of loseing anything. GET A BIGGER GUN.
