Split Stock

Went rabbit hunting Friday(got 6, Eating rabbit and gravy this morning).Got home and was wiping down my Browning Gold hunter whan I noticed a scratch on the stock. After closer inspection I discovered a crack about 2" long running from the recoil pad up the center of the stock.Needless to say my feelings were hurt.:(I know the more I shoot it the worse it will get.So the fat man here got on the trusty old 'puter and found a new butt stock,so I figure you have to have a new forearm so they will match;).You know "well if I get the stock I got to get the other piece so it will look right both new with no dents, dings, or scratches:)"SOOO botom line my little rabbit hunt is going to cost me $255.50 .If it ain't one thing it's another. On the bright side I will have a brand new set of wood to beat all to hell:D.

Depending on it's age, you could have sent it back to Browning and they would have replaced it for free.

I had one that cracked and they replaced both ends.

For the amount of money that you spent on a new stock, you could have bought a used Remington or Mossberg shotgun.

Swampdog, before you do anything rash like spending money just send it back to browning, I'll bet they fix it free.

Have not ordered the butt stock yet .Traced the serial number the Gold was born in 1995.I bought it used about 8 years ago.If you guy's think Browning will take care of it it is worth a try.Should I contact them first and let them know the problem or just send it back describing the problem? That's what I did with the Encore when the stock split on it .It was a couple of years old and bought new.

Just send the whole gun back to them . I had a model 70 that was built in 1996 and needed a bolt redone on it and they picked it up n/c.
